Enthusiasm is a good thing!

I've seen quite a bit of buzz about 7 Fitness Programs with Cult Followings .  I wasn't surprised to find 3 of them were BeachBody workouts.

When I first started P90X I "liked" them on facebook and seeing the enthusiasm kinda turned me off.  I also used the term "cult" to describe it! I just plugged along for quite a while on my little lonesome.  I'm a rebel at heart so if I am expected to check in with someone to keep me accountable I find that I don't do it just to buck the system.  I'm also willing to cut off my nose to spite my face.  ;-)

In March I finally tried  Shakeology.  I'd been stuck at the same weight for 6 weeks and was just treading water.  I would fluctuate 5-10lbs but there was no real progress.  The month I started Shakeology, I lost 17.8lbs.  That was the kick in the pants I needed! I crossed over to the cult side lol.

The comradery you experience with other people who have done the program is just amazing.  There are jokes that only people who have suffered through the workouts understand.  Some are good.. others are bad, but there's a kinship there.

I'm terrible at the hard sell.  All I can really do is say I'm using these products, and these are my before and now shots.  I can't stress this enough.  BeachBody products work.    If you're ready to do the work, you'll see the results with this program. You can be 330lbs when you start, you can start and stop a million times in a year.  I did! I also lost 100lbs during that time.  I don't workout 6 days a week.  You can still get results even if you don't. I'm not super fit, I'm still on this journey. I welcome company! It is free to join my team! I've got a support/accountability group on facebook that is being under utilized! All I ask is that you do your best and forget the rest!

And for those of you who were wondering I've got 4.4lbs to go til I've lost the 12ish lbs I gained last freaking week.  Hopefully Monday's weigh in will put me back where I was 2wks ago.

  1. I can relate to this statement. "I'm a rebel at heart so if I am expected to check in with someone to keep me accountable I find that I don't do it just to buck the system. " Self-sabotage could be my middle name and I am trying to figure out how to stop doing it! I appreciate seeing your progress. When you first started, did you have an injuries or pain that you were dealing with?

    1. I started when Lila was 7 months old. I had lost the baby weight with a ton of nursing and that's it. My pre-pregnancy weight was 333lbs and I gained 50!

I was always big, but until this pregnancy I was never disabled by my size.

I didn't have any real injuries or pain other than being virtually immobile for an entire year.

As far as how to stop? Hell if I know! My friends are too nice to call me out. I still subscribe to my accountability group. Seeing their post have shamed me into hitting play more than once!

  2. Thanks for taking the time to answer. I have pain issues and am trying to figure out if I could do P90X, TurboFire, etc. I love reading your posts:)

  3. I'm obviously not a doctor, but I truly believe that anyone can do this if they listen to their body. I think the line between stretching your comfort zone vs doing too much is pretty clear. I don't think I can stress that enough. I'm only willing to hurt so much lol (that whole doing my best, forgetting the rest part!)

I was amazed at how much easier plyo was on week 3 than it was on week 1. It didn't take long at all for me to physically feel my endurance change (says she who still stops after 40ish min almost every time!)

I know people who workout til they puke.. I will never be that girl! http://arealwomanssweatjournal.blogspot.com/2012/07/modify-modify-modify.html here I wrote about specific modifications I made.

I'm in it not only for the weight loss, but the feeling I get after a workout. I feel like such a bad ass! From there I can take on the rest of my life.

It really all boils down to what kind of pain as to what modifications you'd need. If you've got bad knees, legs and back or plyo are going to be a challenge. I may be able to help suggest a workout that will work better depending on what kind of pain you're working with.. if you want facebook messaging is more private :)

I've learned not to say "If I can do it anyone can" because it's hard! LOL.. I have been blogging for 5 months now and I don't even know how many times I've had to dust myself off and get back into the groove!
